Deleting videos taken by journalists is unacceptable- Media Council
Maldives Media Council has stated that deleting photos and videos taken by journalists is totally unacceptable.

President of the Media Council, Mohamed Asif said that journalists could not be ordered to delete videos that they had taken.

He said that the Media Council is investigating the claim of Raajje TV journalists that a notorious gang had threatened them and intimidated them to delete the video in the presence of the police

He said that this is unacceptable and the Police should have stopped those people from that.

Asif also said that the media council cannot accept Criminal Court's decision to bar Raajje TV journalists from all of the ongoing terror hearings at the court.

He said that they were discussing the issue with the Criminal Court, and will be coming up with a definite solution.

In addition to this he said that they were receiving complaints of journalists being harassed during recent protests, as well as obstructions in covering the parliament sessions of the year. Asif stressed that they are currently engaging in discussions with the police since they had been obstructing and assaulting the journalists active on field while adding that the issue where parliament live feed is cut off would be investigated as well.
