Several Heads of Missions accredited to the Maldives in Sri Lanka has called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Dunya Maumoon in Colombo.
During the series of meetings held at the High Commission of Maldives in Colombo, Minister Dunya briefed the Ambassadors on the current political situation in the Maldives.
Discussions at these meetings also focused on the efforts currently underway to consolidate democracy in the Maldives. The Minister reiterated the commitment of the Government in upholding the rights enshrined in the Constitution of the Maldives, particularly in maintaining the rule of law in the country.
Minister Dunya also recalled the excellent relations shared between the friendly countries and discussed avenues for further strengthening and enhancing the deep-rooted historic relations between these countries.
The Minister received the Ambassador of Japan, Nobuhito Hobo; High Commissioner of Australia, Ms. Robyn Mudie; High Commissioner of Canada, Shelley Whiting; High Commissioner of South Africa, Geoffrey Quinton Michael Doidge; Ambassador of Cuba, His Excellency Florentino Batista Gonzalez; Ambassador of Russia, Alexander A. Karchava, and Ambassador of Norway, Her Excellency Grete Løchen.
