Jumhooree Party’s Deputy Leader Ameen Ibrahim has said that the leaked document of an alleged agreement between the opposition parties to bring down the government is “another fatherless child born out of wedlock.”
Ameen made this remark speaking at the joint press conference of MDP, Jumhooree Party and Adhaalath Party at the main office of the Adhaalath Party.
He said that the Jumhooree Party has not made any agreements whatsoever with any other party. He said that he is certain that the party leader, Gasim Ibrahim will not sign any such agreements without the consent of the national steering committee of the party.
Ameen said that a similar agreement was leaked by the media previously. He said that there is no basis to these stories.
“We should think what responsible journalism means. Yes, breaking news is something that the journalists normally do and will want to do. However, regardless how breaking it sounds, every news should be verified for authenticity,” he said.
Ameen said that similar “fake stories” are also “born out of the pen drive” allegedly confiscated from the residence of former Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim.
He said that all these false stories are leaked by the government to divert the attention of the people from their corruption and oppression. He said that this is clear to all.
