Jumhooree Party’s Deputy Leader Ameen Ibrahim has said that the government is mocking the plight of the people for raising their voice against the tyranny and oppression of the government.
Speaking at the public rally of the opposition entitled “Maldivians against tyranny”, Ameen said that the government is responding to the appeal of the people with mockery and more oppression instead of rectifying the problems.
“The current government knows nothing except to oppress and harass the people. What is this foolishness that they are holding today entitled ‘Jihad of the Toddy Tapper’? The people are out on the streets calling the people to stop the oppression. The people are pleading the government to ensure their safety,” he said.
They are mocking the people by misusing historic events and names of historical personalities.
Ameen said that government’s main concern is focused on cementing their seats and destroying the political carriers of their opponents. He said that even the few developments projects they boast of stems from opportunities for corruption.
