Rector of the Villa College, Dr. Ahmed Anwar has said that Villa College is now recognized internationally by world class universities throughout the world.
Dr. Anwar said that Villa College has now got membership at Commonweath Association of Universities and International Association of Universities.
He that the Villa College gives priority to provide courses of utmost importance and need to the Maldivian nation. In this regard, the college gives much importance to create capable teachers.
Dr. Anwar also highlighted that in its endeavor to become one of the leading University in the region, internationalization of higher education offered through Villa College has now officially commenced.
He said that this is the vision of the founder of Villa, Gasim Ibrahim.
He highlighted that the three pillars of Villa College operations: quality, affordability and accessibility combined with a rich learning experience provided through direct industry engagement are the means through which Villa College seeks to advance its level internationally.
Meanwhile, Villa College commenced its first program early October 2007 with a total number of twenty students. Since then, the student numbers have grown steadily and today over one thousand students, learning various disciplines, are enrolled. Although Villa College started its operations in October 2007 under the Faculty of Computing and Business Management, all academic courses began in July 2008.
