Many shops of the island Kulhudhufushi have been closed in protest against electricity subsidy exemption by the government.
According to Kulhudhufushi Live, the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has still not replied to the letter sent by the people expressing their concern regarding this decision of the government.
The protest was commenced near Kulhudhufushi Council and the protest is now held in front of Feneka office in the island.
According to Vnews that all of the shops in the island had closed because the government did not cooperate, in any way, with the requests sent by them regarding the issue.
The steering committee has also decided that none of the businesses in the islands are to pay the electricity bills until the 10th of April, until the matter is resolved.
The committee, which was created to address the subsidy issues faced by the businessmen in the island, comprises of eleven businessmen as well as two members each from the atoll council and the island council.
