More people participate in the rally organized by the opposition three parties than the rally organized by the ruling PPM and MDA.
Rally of PPM and MDA was held at near the artificial beach area while the opposition rally was held at Male’ City Council’s Hall.
It is noted that there were many empty seats at the rally of the ruling coalition. When the opposition parties hold rallies at artificial beach areas in addition to the seats being full the whole area is seen crowded.
Male’ City Hall was overcrowded and some people were seen even outside the building.
Sheikh Imran Abdulla, the President of the Adhaalath Party stated that PPM leader Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel were forced at gun point to participate in the rally of the government coalition.
Adheeb said that Jumhooree Party worked to win 25 seats at the Majlis but only got 15 seats. He said that the Jumhooree Party leader Gasim Ibrahim didn’t even win the Speaker’s position at the Majlis.
While Adheeb made this remark he did not say how many seats that PPM competed for and won. PPM competed to win 50 seats and won only 35 seats.
