Meedhoo constituency MP, Rozaina Adam has said that it is unlawful to change the electricity usage charges.
MP Rozaina made this remark in a press conference held at the office of MDP. She said that the constitution clearly stipulates that the government should provide electricity services to all people of Maldives equally for equal rates.
“Therefore it is unconstitutional to being any changes to these rates by increasing them,” she said.
She said that taxes are taken not to lead the people of smaller islands to poverty but to develop all islands equally.
Rozaina said that if the government cannot do this then it is better to resign.
