Will remain advocating the truth- Gasim
Jumhooree Party leader, Gasim Ibrahim has said that he will remain upon the truth and advocating the truth.

Gasim Ibrahim made this remark during his interview to VTV regarding the comments made by Tourism Minister Ahmed Adheeb.

Gasim said that the constitutional rights of the people have been tightened and therefore he has been working and will remain working for these rights.

“I am not trying to get power to a particular person. I am not trying to seek power through other than the constitution. I know very well what is in the constitution with regards to it. I have read it the most. Perhaps Adheeb made those remarks at PPM rally out of ignorance,” he said.

He said that he has been working for the best interest of the people and not the best interest of the a particular person.

“I have also been vocal on Nasheed’s arrest,” he clarified, referring to the detainment and subsequent 13-year prison sentence of former President Mohamed Nasheed. “But after the Court’s verdict, I cannot be able to say anything about it. A sentence is a sentence, and once it’s finalized, protesting against it won’t help much.”

Gasim noted that the Jumhooree Party has not yet made a decision whether to participate in the opposition activities.

Gasim denied the claims of Adheeb that he has been in hiding. “I didn’t flee away. I did not hide. There is no reason for me to do that. I am seen from where I should be seen,” he said.
