Four Seasons Resorts Maldives Apprenticeship Program for 2015 has commenced with 72 students.
Speaking at the ceremony held at National Art Gallery to kick start the program for 2015, General Manager of Four Seasons Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru and company appointed Regional Vice President Armando Kraenzlin said that the best students of the program were the batch of 2014.
He said that 460 students applied for this year’s program and only 65 from them were selected. He said that the additional 7 students are from the two year program.
The programme is open to male and female Maldivians, aged 17 to 20, who meet a number of entry criteria including O-level certifications and fluency in both written and spoken English. No previous work experience is required and apprentices both live and work at Four Seasons Resorts Maldives, training in resort operations five days per week, with theory classes one day per week. Performance appraisals and tests are taken at regular intervals across the offered disciplines of Food & Beverage Preparation or Service, Safe Maritime Transport & Engineering, Housekeeping, Guest Services & Front of Office, PADI Dive Master, Water Sports Attendant and, new for 2015, Marine Biology.
The Four Seasons Resorts Maldives Apprenticeship Programme is the most successful and longest running of its kind in the Indian Ocean. During its decade of operation, its reputation has grown to such an extent that virtually all Apprentices get a job upon graduation, with a level of skill that would otherwise have taken years to acquire.
