Galolhu Dhekun constituency MP, Ahmed Mahloof has said that he was denied from participating in the Friday prayer during his detention. He said that three Fridays passed but he was not given the opportunity to join the congregation.
Mahloof made this remark speaking to the media following his release from police custody after the High Court ordered to release him.
He said that he did not hear the prayer call while he was in his cell at Dhoonidhoo detention facility. He said that he only knows of the prayer times when the guards inform him.
Mahloof said that he was even arrested during former President Mohamed Nasheed’s government however he was not denied from participating in prayer.
He said that this shows that the current government is a very irreligious and against Islam.
