Some religious scholars are saying that corruption and vices are so rampant in Maldives that the punishment of Allah is imminent.
A statement signed by some scholars said that the nation is in a very critical state drowned in corruption and tyranny.
The statement called all people to stand up against oppression and tyranny. They also expressed concern regarding the lack of justice and fairness.
The scholars mentioned that the state of affairs has become so worse that today some are so confused that they do not know that justice is something that Allah sent down.
“The nation is being drowned in a big murky ocean of injustice, vices, corruption, fear and tyranny. A state so worse that a punishment of Allah is imminent upon the nation,” the statement said.
The scholars called all oppressors to stop their oppression and return to justice. They said that it is the individual responsibility upon all to stand against oppression.
The scholars also appealed all people to supplicate to Allah to deliver them from this injustice and oppression.
In addition to this the scholars called the government to come to common terms with the political parties by holding discussions between all parties.
Among the scholars who signed the statement include former Islamic Minister Dr. Abdul Majeed Abdul Bari and 14 other scholars.
