Citizenry is faced with a “national oppression”- Ahmed Didi
Director of Democracy Lab, “Sandhanu” Ahmed Didi has said that the citizenry of Maldives is today not faced with an individual problem but with a “national oppression”.

He made this remark at the press conference held yesterday at Adhaalath Party office by the “Maldivians, against Tyranny” movement.

Ahmed Didi said that the government is demanding 100 million US dollars from Villa Foundation without any due right. He said that this is crystal clear from the agreements made between Villa and the government.

“Those are settlement agreements. All other previous agreements are annulled by the settlement agreements. However the government is denying this and demanding money. And they are threatening to take it by force. This is tyranny. This is oppression,” he said.

Ahmed Didi said that this is a national problem. “Not only an oppression against particular individuals. This is not only regarding Gasim Ibrahim,” he said.

He said that “Maldives today has become the ‘Sheher of Gabbar Singh’.”
