Increasing the parking fine without increasing parking space is an oppression- Faisal
Kashidhoo constituency MP Faisal Naseem said that increasing the parking fine without increasing parking space is an oppression.

He said that the government should regard many factors if they want to increase the parking fine for parking vehicles on non-parking zones.

“Vehicles are increasing in Male’ every passing day. So where to park all those vehicles? There should be some regulations and more parking zones. Even if fines are increased where will all those vehicles be parked? Are their enough parking zones? Earlier the motorcycle can be kept at the house. However it is not possible today. All the sides of the streets are full. Both sides and even the corners and even towards zebra crossings,” he said.

Faisal said that every time the government speaks about controlling the number of vehicles and bringing changes to the duty taken from vehicles. He said that the government does not have any solutions for what to be done to the vehicles already in Male’.

“We need practical solutions. We always talk and talk. I do not want to even speak about this. But we members have talked of these issues to many responsible people from the government. If we do not genuinely seek solutions. Practical solutions then the problems will become bigger and bigger,” he said.

He said that the Majlis members have remaining four years and instead of just talking members need to come up with practical solutions.
