MDP top official, Ibrahim Shameem has said that if anyone is to be punished based on lies then the first that should be punished should be the current government.
Ibrahim Shameem said that the application form for electricity subsidy form states that if any of the information provided on the form is false then the applicant can be prosecuted.
He said that the current government came into power after making many false pledges and lying to the people. He said that the government still remains upon those lies and has been adding more lies to it.
“First look at the pledge to give MVR 10000 for fishermen regardless of the catch. They did not mention that they will be taking MVR 6000 from every fishermen. Did any of the farmers get the monthly MVR8000 promised? And where is the doctors promised to every family?,” he said.
He said that the government should be prosecuted for these lies and should be punished by law. He said that it is totally unacceptable to leave the government scot-free after all these lies and deception.
Ibrahim Shameem said that this is much worse and damaging then some false information given on an application form.
