Protestors gathered in the streets of Male’ against the oppression of the government are saying that they will not end the protest until the tyranny of the government is lifted.
Police are using tear gas, rubber bullets, stun guns and pepper spray against opposition protesters who were demanding President Yameen Abdul Gayoom resign and the jailed ex-president be freed.
According to reports a crowd of more than 10,000 people gathered from earlier on Friday, before marching through the streets.
Angry protesters accused President Yameen of jailing former President d Nasheed and others and oppressing Gasim Ibrahim who he sees as political threats.
Many protestors are being detained by the Police. Local reports say that the Police have been using very strict measures and also attacking protestors.
Currently Protesters in Chaandhanee Magu are calling for Yameen's resignation.
Police are attempting to push them back. MDP and MP Mahloof had appealed all to assemble near Aminiya School
