Opportunity has been opened for the Peoples’ Majlis to find the reality behind the case of the brutal murder of Dr. Afrasheem Ali.
Former Commissioner of Police, Abdulla Riyaz recently stated that he is ready to reveal all information he has regarding the case if the National Security Committee of the Majlis or the Courts of law request him to do so.
Following this remark by the former Commissioner Abdulla Riyaz, the ruling party PPM called Maldives Police Service to summon him and investigate his statements and take action against him. Among those who made this call include the deputy leader of the party, Abdu Raheem.
The Speaker of the Peoples’ Majlis is from the ruling party. PPM has the clear majority in the Majlis. They also have the full majority of the National Security Committee. Therefore, PPM has the opportunity to summon Abdulla Riyaz to the Majlis and take his testimony to find the truth behind the rumours spread in the public regarding the murder of Dr. Afrasheem Ali.
Maldives Police Service have successfully solved much difficult murder cases than the murder of Dr. Afrasheem. The people’s concerns is mainly because the police has not reached any progress regarding the case.
In Maldivians murder occurs mostly due to drug problems, gang problems and money problems.
It might be that Humam is the murderer who killed Dr Afrasheem. However the question is what is the reason that Humam had to kill him. The people are concerned because there is no plausible reason for Humam to kill him.
Until these questions remain as questions and left unanswered then the people and the family will continue to speak regarding the case.
