Islamic scholars calls govt not to fire govt staffs who are participating in ongoing protests
Islamic Scholars have called the government not to fire any of the government staff who are participating in the ongoing “Maldivians against tyranny” protests.

In a press conference held at the Adhaalath Party, former State Minister at the Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Mohamed Didi said that all the scholars make this request from the government.

He said that sacking people for participating in protests held against oppression is yet another form of oppression.

“Therefore we urge the government to stop all kinds of oppression,” he said.

Sheikh Mohamed Didi also called the government to release former President Mohamed Nasheed, Colonel (retired) Mohamed Nazim and all the political detainees.

He said that the former President Mohamed Nasheed and former Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim were not given a fair trial.
