Cutting of electricity from hospitals is a crime against humanity- Addu Mayor
Addu City Mayor Abdulla Sodiq has said that cutting of electricity at IMDC Hospital in Addu City is a crime against Humanity.

He said that not even Israeli occupation cuts off electricity of Palestinian hospitals.

The Mayor said that the Fenaka company has even put the Israeli occupation to shame by cutting of the electricity of the hospital.

He said that there were 12 patients in the Incentive Care Unit (ICU) while electricity was cut off.

“The hospital was not given any notice whatsoever. There were 12 patients in the ICU. They did not even give the hospital for a back up plan. This is a crime against humanity,” he said.

Mayor Sodiq said that IMDC is better in their services and quality then the government hospital in Addu and therefore many of the people get their medical treatments from IMDC.

The hospital has now regained the electricity by using a generator.

IMDC is one of the largest private hospitals in Addu City, owned and managed by SIMDI group.

According to reports, SIMDI has stated that they were working to file the case in Civil Court and gain a stay order to reinstate power.

Power supply was cut to SIMDI properties in Addu after Dr. Shakeela was seen actively participating in the May Day rally held against the Government.

Dr. Shakeela is among the shareholders of SIMDI.
