Prosecutor General Muhthaz Muhsin has said that the Prosecutor General’s Office does not make any politically motivated charges on anyone.
Speaking to the press yesterday the Prosecutor General said that the office does not prosecute all cases sent by the Police. He said that they only prosecute cases where they believe have enough evidences and proofs to charge a person with a crime.
He noted that the office does feel some emptiness with the penal code being passed and still not having commenced its implementation.
Muhthaz said that he does not believe that the ban of using four wheeled vehicles without prior permit from police in protests deprives the protestors their rights.
He said that protesters should respect the rights of others while they protest and hold demonstrations.
Meanwhile, the opposition used a three wheeled hand cart to carry their sound system during Friday’s protest with the ban on four wheeled vehicles without prior permit from police.
