MDP PArlaimentary Group member and Addu Mithadhoo constituency MP, Rozaina Adam has called PPM Parliamentary Group to implement the new penal code to curb crime.
Rozaina made this remark during the inauguration ceremony of an acivitiy center of the opposition MDP yesterday.
She said that a husband who threw his wife on a fishing boat was fined with only MVR 200. She said that if this act was perpetrated against a government leader then government will be charging the perpetrator as a terrorist.
Rozaina noted that the court issued a 6 months prison sentence for saying “Thank you for the reload”.
She said that these issues are of concern while the foreign minister boasts in international conferences that the Maldives has reached new heights in human rights protection.
