Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has said that good governance was introduced by Muslims regardless of whether a people want to accept it or not.
He made this remark speaking in a meeting held in STELCO hall today with the senior officials of higher education providers and colleges.
He said that despite the criticism of the western world, Islamic Education will be included in the Maldivian education curriculum. He added that this includes the knowledge related to punishments prescribed in Islam such as the death penalty on murderers.
Dr. Jameel said that the inclusion of Islamic principles in the national curriculum must not be seen as a step backwards for the nation.
In addition to this, the Vice President noted that the government’s policy is to produce educated and productive youth. He said that the vision is to see them in high ranking posts of foreign and local companies and institutions.
