Director of Democracy Lab, “Sandhaan” Ahmed Didi has said that there is no legal justification to bankrupt Villa Group and this cannot be accepted.
Ahmed Didi said that he has checked all the documents and agreements between Villa Group and the government thoroughly and there is no pending due payments to be seen.
He said that the government is trying to lead 50,000 of the people of Maldives to poverty by bankrupting Villa Group. He said that this is unacceptable. He said that the justification that the government is stating is that they are trying to preserve the welfare of the people.
“How can this be accepted when this action will itself lead 50,000 of the people to poverty? Is this preserving the welfare of the people?,” he asked.
