Ahmed Thasmeen Ali has expressed concern because of the change of the government perception regarding religious scholars.
Thasmeen made this remark following the decision of the government to sack three religious scholars of the Adhaalath Party from the Fiqh Academy.
Thasmeen said that it is not best to treat religious scholars differently at different times while the scholars remain upon the same principles.
He said that it is fool hardy that the government is now rejecting the religious scholars of the Adhaalath Party just because the party joined the opposition against the tyranny of the government.
He said that the religious scholars should be held with respect and high esteem regardless of their political affiliations.
Sheikh Ilyas Hussein, Dr. Iyaz Abdul Latheef and Makunudhoo constituency member Anara Naeem are among those who were sacked from the Fiqh Academy.
