Special activities planned for the weekend to mark Environment Day
Environment Ministry has stated that special events to mark the International Environment Day will be held on Friday and Saturday.

The activities are to kick off at 7.30 am Friday morning with a tree planting program in the newly reclaimed area in Hulhumaale’. Former President Maumoon Abdul Qayyoom will start this program.

A coral revival program titled “One Nation Coral Revial” will be held in Vilingili 3.30 pm Friday afternoon. Tourism Minister Ahmed Adeeb and Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim will start this program.The coral revial program will be carried out Friday night at 8.00 pm as well. A photo exhibition will be held in National Art Gallery at 8.30 pm Friday night, which will be opened by Minister Thoriq. The photo exhibition will be carried out on Saturday as well.

“FehiFaiy” award, given to those who had contributed to the environment, will be given out on the 15th of this month, in a special ceremony held in the President’s Office. Environment Ministry reported that Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed will speak in the ceremony.
