June 12 protest will be carried out by sitting on MajeedheeMagu: National Movement
Opposition movement against the Government’s “injustices” have stated that the June 12th rally will be carried out by sitting on MajeedheeMagu.

Leading organizers of the movement made this announcement speaking a press conference held AP Office yesterday.

MDP PG Group Leader Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu) stated that the mass rally will go ahead as planned and will start at 8.30 pm that night from Artificial Beach.

Ibu stated that this protest would be a peaceful one, similar to the one held on May Day. It has to be noted that MDP is taking a leading role in organizing and carrying out the rally.

He stated that the Government’s injustices had penetrated the fabric of the society and that it impacts the whole nation. He highlighted the politicization of the judicial system.

Ibu added that in the protests, protesters will call out for the release of political arrestees and those being tried on unfair charges.
AP advisory Committee President stated that the Friday rally would be a peaceful, successful one and called on all to take part in it.

MP Mahloof had also spoken in the press conference stating that this rally was part of the series of rallies being held to bring a halt to the gross injustices committed by the Government. He noted that jailing and silencing the voices of those who speak out against the Government was also an injustice.

Mahloof stated that they would not back down at the warning and threats of the Government. He added that huge charges such as terrorism charges would not deter the protesters.

SandhaanuAhammaidhi of the steering committee stated that the protest was not one held to perpetrate violence. However, he warned that some would take this opportunity to create violence. He called on the Police not to infringe on the protesters’ rights to free assembly.
