Yunan Province Vice-Governor has stated that the essence of regional development was co-operation between nations and that this was the basis for the China led Silk Route initiative.
He made the statement in an interview, prior to the opening ceremony of the China-South Asia Exposition and Kunming Import and Export Fair.
Gao stated that all nations engaged in various development projects. However, the rate of development for nations are at different levels and as a result the highest developed nations in the region have to take the responsibility for the region’s development
.
Gao stated that the purpose of the Silk Route was to encourage regional development with the participation of all nations in the region. Under such a movement, knowledge can be exchanged and projects started which would benefit the whole nation.
Under the Silk Route agreement, yesterday Maldives and China had signed an aid agreement for the construction of the bridge between Male’ and Hulhumale’. Additionally, President Yameen and Chinese Vice President had held bilateral discussions yesterday. President Yameen is scheduled to take part in the expo which will be started on the 12th of this month.
