Twelve arrested from Friday protest: Police
Maldives Police Service (MPS) has stated that 12 individuals were brought under Police custody from the Friday mass rally against the Government.

Police media official reported that all of the arrested were males. The official also reported that all were arrested on charges of obstruction of duty and ignoring commands issued by the Police.

Though protest organizers had announced that the sit-in protest would be carried out for three days, Police had used force to disband the protest at midnight. The rally, which started three hours before, then assembled near Amity area and continued the protest until dawn.

Member of Parliament for Galolhu South Constituency Ahmed Mahloof was among the 12 who were detained by the Police.

All but one were released at their remand hearings held in Criminal Court. MP Mahloof was among those who were released.
