State Trading Organization (STO) has stated that there will be no shortage of goods for the coming month of Ramadan.
A senior official of STO reported that the company had started releasing the shipments to the market last Monday and that a sizeable stock is still available.
STO stated that wholesale of onions, potatoes and eggs are available from STO number six plot.
Prices of essential goods in the market had spiked prior to STO issuing fresh stock for Ramadan. Previously, prices for a sack of onions was between MVR 350 and MVR 400, which used to be priced at MVR 270. STO is selling an onion sack for MVR 250.
Retail prices for a sack of potatoes was at MVR 300, before rising to a high of MVR 450 and MVR 500. STO is to sell a sack of potatoes at MVR 250.
The average retail price of a case of eggs stood at MVR 300. This hovered between MVR 360 and MVR 400. STO is to sell a case of eggs for MVR 270.
