Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC) has been tasked with the work of developing roads for five islands.
The agreement was signed yesterday in Housing Ministry. Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizz signed the agreement on behalf of the Ministry, while MRDC Managing Director Ibrahim Nazim signed the agreement on behalf of the company.
Under the agreement, roads of R. Ungoofaaru, R. Meedhoo, B. Eydhafushi, ADh. Mahibadhoo and S. Hulhumeedhoo are to be developed.
Fourteen roads of Ungoofaaru are to be paved with tar for 3.2 km for MVR 32.6 million. Six roads of Meedhoo are to be paved to with tar for 3.2 km fo MVR 30 million. Fifteen roads of Eydhafushi are to be paved to tar for 3.36 km for MVR 33.2 million. Nineteen roads of Mahibadhoo are to be paved with pavement stones for three km for MVR 27.7 million.
The agreement dictates that the work has to be finished within 380 days
.
Four roads of Hulhumeedhoo are to be paved for 1.32 km for MVR 11.3 million. The project has to be completed in 159 days.
Senior officials of Housing Ministry, MRDC and some MPs took part in the ceremony.
