Age category for Presidents, Vice Presidents was changed with huge majority, in the Parliament session held yesterday.
The motion, which was proposed by Hoarafushi Constituency MP Mohamed Ismail, stated that the potential Presidents and Vice Presidents have to be between the 30 to 65 year age gap. The motion was passed with the vote of 78 MPs out of 80 MPs who had chosen to take part in vote.
Galolhu South Constituency MP Ahmed Mahloof and Kendhoo Constituency MP Ali Hussain voted against the motion. A total of 64 votes was required to pass the motion. The motion was passed with the votes of opposition MDP, Jumhooree Party and Adhaalath Party’s vote.
