Indian High Commissioner Rajiv Shahare has stated that India will always prioritize education for Maldivians.
He made the statement speaking in the ceremony to hand over the scholarships from Bengaluru University for the 18 students. He added that India offers over 50 scholarships to Maldivians and that this was significant considering the population of the country. “Education is the most vital aspect of the development of the nation.
India places emphasis on providing such assistance to nation. When we hand over scholarships we look at the population of the country,” he said.
Shahare said that India also places special emphasis on developing the health sector of Maldives. As such, he announced that in addition to 41 general scholarships, India would provide 10 scholarships from the medicine field. Out of this five scholarships would be given to MNDF, with one of them as a post graduate opportunity.
