Dismissal is a dishonest ploy: Dr. Jameel
Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has stated there was no basis for his dismissal and that his dismissal was a dishonest ploy perpetrated by PPM.

He made the statement in a press conference issued by his official residence. He is presently in United Kingdom.

The statement said that his dismissal from the position, a position which was given to him by a public vote, was a Constitutional breach. VP’s statement said that the motion led by PPM was a clear demonstration of the greed of some individuals and described it as a motion against all citizens.

The statement noted that all the powers of the State evolved from the people and remained with the people. As such, a motion that calls to remove a person elected to public office by a public vote, without any reasonable justification was a deliberate move against the rights of the people.

The statement is believed to be a rebuttal to the no confidence motion against Dr. Jameel filed on Tuesday. The motion was filed to the Parliament by PPM with the signatories of 61 MPs. For the motion to
pass, 57 MPs have to vote for the motion. Out of the 61 MPs who signed the motion, six were from MDP and five were from JP. PPM MPs said that Dr. Jameel played a vital role in establishing this
Government. However, they said that of late VP Dr. Jameel was allying with the opposition and working against the Government.
