Have to expand services with the resources available for Police: CP
Commissioner of Police Hussain Waheed has stated that Maldives Police Service (MPS) had to expand the range of services given to the public and as such, has to develop a strategic procedures to do so.
He made the statement speaking in the “Police Strategic Forum 2015” held in Iskandhar Koshi yesterday morning.

CP Waheed said that Police had to reflect on the past experiences and hold discussions with the stakeholder prior to drawing up a strategic plan. As such, he noted that Police had to hold discussions with LGA and Parliament for the decentralization system.

He also appealed to find solutions for bottlenecks in the investigation process.

CP Waheed also said that it was vital that such a plan is aimed at all sectors of the Police and should be tailor fit to address issues facing Male’ and the Islands. He added that it was also critical that the new plan addressed the issues of communicating with the Court and the Court procedures, especially regarding detainment beyond 24 hours.

CP Waheed also stressed on the importance of training. As such, he questioned on whether it would be beneficial to conduct an intensive training on a selected group of recruits rather than a four month general training on a large group of recruits.

Many senior officials of Police took part in the ceremony.
