Islamic Ministry holds religious story writing competition

Islamic Ministry has opened submissions for prospective adolescents to submit original stories on Islamic values, conduct and customs.

The Ministry reported that the first place winner would be given a prize of MVR 10,000, while the second place winner will receive a prize of MVR 7,500 and the third prize winner will receive MVR 5,000.

Additionally, the President will also give a special prize to the first place winner. The next five best submissions will be awarded MVR 3,000 each. Additionally, winners of competition will be granted exclusive content rites for their stories as well. Moreover, Ministry will grant an additional prize of MVR 2,500 for every 500 copies of the story if the Ministry choses to publish it.

Ministry stated that this competition is designed to promote good Islamic values, such as respect for elders, teachers, neighbors and parents and compassion for children, amongst adolescents. Additionally, the competition would seek to recap the lessons learned from the Prophet and his Companions in a format that was accessible and easily adopted by children.

Interested participants have to submit their stories with a completed application form. Soft copies of the stories and application forms can be submitted via email as well. As the competition is a religious story writing competition, Islamic Ministry instructed that the story has to be moral, written with due respect to Prophet and his Companions, observing proper grammar and in Microsoft Word format. The stories have to be between 7,000 and 10,000 works, written in size 14 Faruma font and evenly spaced.

The deadline for submission is 2.30 pm, 30th September.
