Islam mandates that the voices of the public be heard: Dr. Abdul Majeed
Former Islamic Minister Dr. Abdul Majeed Abdul Baaree has stated that Islam mandates that the voices of the public be heard by the rulers.

He noted that under the caliphate of Umar, he had espoused a culture based on such values. As such, he had encouraged all his subordinates to be vigilant of any ill that befalls the citizens. Umar had instructed all of his subordinates to attend any issue and he himself had done so.

Citing the above, Dr. Abdul Majeed said that the citizens have to rectify the wrongs carried out by the Government and that the Government has to listen to what the citizens have to say. He added that if the Government fails to do so, then there is no sincerity in what the Government does.
