Maldives Police Service has held strategic discussions on expediting criminal investigations and conducting the said investigations with full disclosure.
The discussion were the first part of the second phase of Police Strategic Forum held yesterday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Hassan Habeeb started the discussions, with several departments of the Crime Investigations Command presenting various papers to the discussion. Officers from Male’ and other regions are set to take part in the discussions.
Yesterday’s discussions were held on establishing a system for monitoring the progress for investigating officers and on the services of the general investigation department. Additionally, discussions were held on the common issues in the investigation process, travel times to crime scenes, taking statements and storing evidence.
Resolutions were sought on issues such as remand periods, criminal investigation process and prosecution procedure.
Police Strategic and Legal Department had planned to hold the forum discussion in divisions other than Male’ with the participation of officers from all divisions of the Police.
