President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayoom has called on all to be ethical in spreading information to the public.
He made the statement in the special ceremony held in Muleeaage to officially launch two magazines.
In his speech, the President called on all journalists to be ethical, unbiased and truthful in delivering their news and other content to the public. He added that the media is the fourth power of the state for their integrity in delivering news. President Yameen added that if a power of the state acts outside of legal means and responsibility, then the public would judge that medium as unable to fulfil their mandate.
President Yameen called on the journalists of the two magazines to observe this when making their content. He also called on the journalists to be observers of the Government. As such, President Yameen said the journalists should raise issues of concern, note what is carried out and not carried out by the Government.
