Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Ghafoor has been ushered in as the new Vice President with the approval of 70 MPs of the Parliament.
Most of the MPs had called on the new VP to secure peace and security, while ensuring that the opposition had fair room to express their concerns.
Adeeb had served as the co-chair of the Economic Council of the President’s Office and Tourism Minister, prior to his appointment as VP yesterday. He was sworn in by Chief Justice Abdullah Saeed in President’s Office.
Many have noted that the new VP was the hardest working cabinet member and the staunchest defender of the nation. He had pioneered youth empowerment, gaining the support of many.
Adeeb was appointed to the position following the impeachment of former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed.
