President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has assigned the administration of Tourism Ministry to Vice President Ahmed Adeeb.
President assigned the Ministry to Vice President as the Ministerial position remains vacant. Prior to his appointment as Vice President on Wednesday, Adeeb was serving as the Minister of Tourism.
Vice President Adeeb has been serving as Tourism Minister from 2012, when he was appointed to the position in the cabinet of Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik.
The Ministry is vital to the nation, as most of the nation’s income is derived from the sector. Opposition MDP has been continuously calling for the boycott of the sector, following Adeeb’s appointment to the position.
