British engaged in illegal extradition in the name of security
At the time of Maldivian protectorate status, English engaged in illegal extradition of Maldivians without the knowledge of the State.

Even though the cause of this remains unknown, this is a crime.

It has been reported that the English government had promised political amnesty to Abdullah Afeef in the event if the Addu rebels faced issues in creating a breakaway state. When the rebellion
failed, the English sought to remain in Addu for a 100 years by placating the Government. Even if the cost was jailing former ally for lifetime in jail, the English was prepared to do so.

This is the past of the Maldives, unchangeable. The world, even now believes that the ways of the former colonial power had not changed.
