Minivan 50 commemorative notes go on sale
The commemorative editions of the Maldivian Rufiyaa, issued by MMA, are now available for purchase.

The editions were released by current Finance Minister Abdullah Jihad who had previously served in many senior positions of MMA.

Speaking in the ceremony, Minister Jihad highlighted that it was vital that the youth of the nation had opportunities to showcase their talent. He appealed to MMA Governor to hold more opportunities of this nature for youth to show their talent in 2018, as it would be the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the republic.

MMA Governor Azeema Adam stated that even though the Minivan 50 editions were legal tender, they cannot be used in business transactions. She added that this edition was aimed solely for collectors. She also stated that MMA would exchange the commemorative note for face value cash, if requested by the purchaser.

The face value of the note is set at MVR 5,000, but the note is selling in a packaged form for MVR 7,500. The note is designed by designer Abdullah Nashath, which was released by the recipient of Nishan Izzudin Honor Abdu Sattar Moosa Didi in the flag hoisting ceremony of the Independence Day.
