Mr. Ahmed Mohamed, High Commissioner of Maldives to India attended the State Funeral of Former President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, which was held in Dr. Abdul Kalam’s native town of Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu on Thursday.
High Commissioner Ahmed attended the ceremony as the Special Envoy of President H.E. Mr. Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Former President H.E. Dr. Kalam known as the “People’s President” and the father of the country’s military missile program was buried with full state honours in presence of Prime Minister of India H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi, senior Government officials and foreign dignitaries. A 21-gun salute was accorded to the former president during the funeral.
Special Envoy Ahmed was accompanied by the Consul of Maldives in Thiruvananthapuram Mr. Ali Adam.
