Crime rates dropped in July due to hard work: CP
Commissioner of Police Hussain Waheed said that crime rates in past July dipped due to hard work carried out to prevent crimes. He noted that this was more remarkable given that July was quite a hectic month.

Speaking to Miadhu News, CP Waheed stated that this was fueled in part by the rise in national spirit and unity for the Independence Day celebrations. He added that the other reason for the drop in crime rates was the fact that half of July fell in the last few weeks of Ramadan.

CP Waheed stated that many roads were closed as part of Minivan 50 preparations. However, he noted that no issues arose as the information was clearly related in the media and had earned the participation of the public.

Hussain Waheed added that in the official celebrations a special squad was active in policing Male’ to prevent major crimes.

Many have noted that in spite of the numerous road closures, generally, the internal situation remained calm.
