Vice President Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Ghafoor has attended the opening ceremony of the second Suez Canal on his official visit to Egypt. The ceremony was held in Ismailia city yesterday.
Vice President departed for the visit on Wednesday. Representatives of nations took part in the city.
The canal was opened by Egyptian President Abdul Fattah Al Sissi, in full military regalia, sailed up the canal, flanked by a young boy in military fatigues waving the Egyptian flag, aboard the yacht Al Mahrousa, the first ship to pass through the Suez Canal when it was opened in November 1869. Gulf News reported that the canal will power an economic turnaround for Egypt.
