A tree planting programme was held this evening as part of ongoing events to celebrate this years’ World Environment Day.
This programme was held in the newly reclaimed area in Hulhumale’.
The Minister of Environment and Energy Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim inaugurated the opening ceremony of this programme, graced by the Minister of Defence and National Security Major General (Retired) Moosa Ali Jaleel and other dignitaries from both ministries, Board members, Chairman and officials from the Housing Development Corporation.
This Programme was held by the Ministry of Environment and Energy incollaboration with the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and the Maldives National Defence Force.
In the inaugural speech Minister highlighted the importance of the tree planting Programme and said that the need for environment preservation for a sustainable future.
MNDF personnel planted 500 trees at the event.
