Maldives’ fastest runner and 100 meter gold medal winner of Indian Ocean Island Games Hassan Saaid has stated that his aim was to win the gold in 200 meter as well. He came in second in the 200 meter competition.
Hassan Saaid, a Lance Corporal of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), stated that this was the result of work carried out over the years since his school days. He noted the key role the three years of training he underwent in Jamaica. He also noted that this was made possible with the assistance of many.
Saaid finished the race in 21:08 seconds. This is a historic medal and win for the Maldives.
Senior officials of MNDF had congratulated Saaid on his wins in the Indian Ocean Island Games.
