Food and Hospitality Exhibition a success
Lily International, main sponsor of Food and Hospitality Asia Maldives and International Culinary Challenge and Exhibition, has stated that the exhibition was a huge success.

Speaking to Miadhu, Managing Director Amir Mansoor stated that a record number of people had visited the fair in the past two days. He added that many of the decision makers of resorts had visited the fair as well.

Amir stated that the purpose of the culinary challenge was to create more chefs and create interest in the field. He also stated that the results of the challenge are becoming clear. He noted the work carried out by the Chef’s Guild of Maldives to promote the challenge and thanked the Guild’s President Maryam Noordheen.

Amir said that it was his desire to see Maldivians serving in executive chef positions in the resorts and have successful careers in the field. He cited the speech made by Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed and added that he wished to see Maldivians in the trade. Amir added that we can only see Sri Lankan or Indian chefs in the resorts, with some Europeans and Australians.

He noted that the market and opportunity for Maldivians to work as chefs, as well as education opportunities. Amir also noted that with the wins from the culinary challenge, will raise their profiles in the resorts and will level the playing field for Maldivian in the culinary field.
