Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives His Excellency Rajiv Shahare is to be the guest of honor for the Indian Independence Day celebrations to be held in Male’.
Indian High Commission has stated that the celebrations will begin with a flag hoisting ceremony in the High Commission Saturday morning at 9. The Commission has appealed to all Indian residents living in Maldives to take part in the ceremony.
The High Commission has also revealed that the present High Commissioner’s tenure in the Maldives had expired and that Shahare will serve in Denmark. Shahare has been serving as High Commissioner since 10th April 2011.
It has been reported to Miadhu News that Shahare will remain in the Maldives until all the formal procedures have been completed and all his initiatives have been completed.
As this year marks 50 years to diplomatic ties between the two nations, Shahare had begun many activities from last year to mark the occasion.
Shahare was an excellent service person and contributed directly to stabilizing relations between the two nations at a time when relations were severely tested.
