President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has stated that he was closely observing the situation occurring due to the tidal surges in the nation.
A statement released by the President’s Office stated that he was closely observing the situation especially in Addu City and Fuvamulah. The statement added that the President had already met with the heads of the relevant institutions and gotten the updates from them.
President Yameen assured that all the Government agencies and institutions were working to provide assistance to those suffering from the tidal surges. As such, citizens have been shifted from the hardest hit areas and lessening the damages caused by the surge. He also assured that he was overseeing all the processes and called on all citizens to be aware of the tidal surges.
Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim had previously stated that the President was closely observing the situation and added that the Government agencies will not neglect their responsibilities.
